Spice Smoking Guide
Even though some folks do roll it in paper and smoke it, we have found that a water-pipe, bong or vaporizer is best to smoke the any spice smoke blends. The smoke must be inhaled quickly and held deeply.
Try to avoid smoking herbs in cigarette form because the leaves need to undergo combustion by means of a much hotter flame than an ordinary cigarette lighter.
We have found that an electrically charged, butane torch type lighter works the best for any method you decide to smoke it. To use it correctly, hold the flame directly over the leaves of a medium sized bowl of a short pipe or water pipe. Draw it down into the leaves and igniting them for the entire duration of the inhalation.
Why use Bongs? Not everyone uses bongs. New herb smokers may wonder why anyone would bother with bongs, and I know plenty of smokers who prefer roll their own to pipes or bongs. Those who favor joints will say it’s about the joys of rolling, of passing around a fatty to friends. While I will not turn down a bud making its way around a room, I rather not rolled one myself. I disdain rolling mainly because of their wastefulness. Consider this while a bone is being passed around or stalled; it is still burning, losing precious smoke.
Using Bongs has a special advantage. A herbal smoker can control the burning by using the flat side of a lighter to extinguish the bowl after taking a good hit. The practice of extinguishing the bowl can save a lot of herb in the long run.
A bong burns a smaller surface area of herb than a rolled one does. It's easy to notice that a bone lets loose a very steady stream of smoke into the air when it's being passed around, while a bowl tends to smother the embers underneath ash and un-burnt herbal bud.
You will notice that a stalled bong will release a very thin stream of smoke compared to a burning rolled one. And bongs pull all the smoke into it’s chamber while bone still waste smoke even while being toked. Rolled ones are very much harsher on your lungs, and nothing compares with the filtration effect of water.
The water not only cools the smoke, but actually removes some harmful impurities as well. Bongs have this advantage over pipes, which, like joints, pass the unfiltered smoke right into your lungs.
